The governments of the State of Kuwait and the Republic of China signed the Framework Agreement on Technical Arrangements, which includes all the technical details of joint cooperation in renewable energy, in the Chinese capital, Beijing. It was signed on the Kuwaiti side by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamil, while the Chinese side was represented by Ren Jingdong, Director of the National Energy Administration (NEA).
The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the National Energy Administration in the presence of Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and member and rapporteur of the Supreme Committee to follow up on the implementation of agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the governments of the State of Kuwait and the People's Republic of China; the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to China, Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al-Najem; and the accompanying high delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEWRE).
In the same vein, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Dr. Adel Al-Zamil said that the framework agreement signed today with the National Energy Administration is related to accelerating the implementation of renewable energy projects. This major step came after intensive and long negotiations that lasted seven months between the two sides.
Through this agreement, both parties reached a final agreement on a joint roadmap for the implementation of the renewable energy construction project for the third phase with a production capacity of about 2,505 MW for both projects, with the ability to increase the production capacity to 5,000 MW in the future. Both projects are of great importance to enhance energy security in the country, and this step comes based on the strategic memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of renewable energy signed between the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and the National Energy Administration of China, to implement specialized Chinese companies for a number of energy projects according to the latest technical standards and specifications.
