22-01-2025 Meeting of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamil, with the Ministry’s sectors concerned with electricity

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamil, held a meeting with a number of assistant undersecretaries in the ministry’s sectors concerned with electricity to review the current status of the sectors, the challenges and obstacles they face, and their development vision.

The meeting began with a welcoming speech to the undersecretaries, and he thanked them for their efforts in following up on the work in the sectors assigned to them and their keenness to deliver the Ministry’s services to customers with the highest quality.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry stressed the importance of working as a team and looking to the interest of the work to speed up the completion. He also expressed his pride and appreciation for the distinguished national cadres working in the Ministry and urged the leaders to develop the work system so that the Ministry would be a source of pride for its members.

He stressed that he would spare no effort in overcoming the obstacles facing the ministry in order to continue its projects and work properly.

The status of the power generation units and water desalination units in the power plants and water distillation sector, the maintenance rates completed, the readiness of the fuel networks, and the quantities and quality of fuel needed by the ministry for the stations were presented.

The status of the main transformer stations and high-voltage overhead lines and the sector’s readiness for any emergency in the high-voltage stations and network were also presented, as well as the new mechanisms that were launched in the sector to ensure the safety of the electrical network. The maintenance programs for secondary transformer stations and integrated distribution units were presented, as they are carried out annually from the beginning of October until the end of May. The sector confirmed the readiness of emergency teams in the event of any sudden power outages, and the mechanism of work of the monitors distributed in the six governorates was discussed.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry was also briefed on the status of the electrical system expected in the summer and the operational procedures and measures to operate the system safely.

The status of maintenance contracts, construction contracts, and operational contracts for the sectors were discussed, as well as the training of Kuwaiti engineers and technicians in the Ministry’s training centers to learn about the latest modern technological methods.

Dr. Adel Al-Zamil stressed the importance of submitting weekly reports from all sectors on the status of tenders in order to avoid any obstacles that hinder the provision of electricity and water services.

At the end of the meeting, he thanked those concerned in the sectors for their efforts in performing their job duties and providing electricity and water services with the highest quality, and stressed on all sectors to commit to addressing any delays or problems in maintenance contracts that the concerned sectors may face. The Undersecretary of the Ministry also stressed the empowerment of the national cadre to perform all engineering and technical tasks in implementation of the replacement policy with the presence of distinguished and creative elements from the Ministry’s national cadres, and he stressed that he is fully prepared to solve any obstacles facing the Ministry’s sectors in preparation for the summer of 2025.
