28-01-2025 Meeting with Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Adel Mohamed Al-Zamil and the sectors of the ministry concerned with electricity.

Complementing the meetings of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamil, a meeting was held with the sectors concerned with water, as well as the Strategies for the Preparation Committee for electricity and water consumption.

The tasks of the Committee are to prepare strategies to rationalize electricity and water consumption, along with its goals and all the work carried out by the committee and its associated teams, as well as the media campaigns executed by the media and awareness team during the summers of 2023 and 2024.

Current and future water projects were also presented, which include the expansion of water networks as well as water facilities.

The most important partnerships between the water projects sector include the General Institution for Residential Care, the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, and the Ministry of Public Works, aiming to complete major development projects in the state.

One of the developmental visions is to increase the accumulated experiences in the field of water projects and develop national cadres to reach higher levels of planning and implementation.

The operating and management mechanisms of the water system in the State of Kuwait were presented, along with the current and future needs to ensure the continuation of water services and the linking of water between the north and south of the State of Kuwait to achieve flexibility in transporting water from all directions.

The capacity of the water compound is 687.8 million imperial gallons daily, with a water production rate of 464,750 million imperial gallons per day, and consumption rates of 465,755 million imperial gallons daily, while the storage capacity is 4,782 million imperial gallons.

Customer services, the billing system, and the smart meters installation project for electricity were also discussed, where more than 164 thousand smart meters for electricity have been installed, and 500 thousand smart meters are being installed, expected to be completed within three years. The completion of the contractual procedures for smart water meters is also being finalized.

The amounts collected reached 530 million Kuwaiti dinars from April 2024 to January 2025.
