In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate: "And We made out of water all living things."
The Arabs are represented in the Arab Water Ministerial Council to fulfill the recommendations of the Council and promote concrete activities related to Arab water resources in their countries; hence the slogan of Arab Water Day 2025–2026:"Sustainable Water Towards a Better Water Future." The theme of this year's Arab Water Day aims to draw attention to how to manage water resources and make them sustainable rather than depleted, in order to achieve sustainable development, justice and equality, and reduce water poverty in our Arab countries.
Arab Water Day emphasizes the importance of spreading the culture of water conservation to ensure its sustainability, especially in addressing resources in the Arab world. It is worth noting that there are many efforts to solve water issues in the Arab world, the most important of which is the rationalization of water consumption.
Rationalizing water use, consolidating water awareness among all members of Arab society to reduce waste and depletion, taking measures to protect water sources from pollution, depletion, and drought, and developing the Arab national sense to ensure the sustainability of water for future generations are essential steps.
The participation of the State of Kuwait in the Arab Water Day "Sustainable Water for a Better Water Future" is an indication that the State of Kuwait is a pioneer in securing its local water needs in modern and innovative ways, dating back to 1951 when it established the Shuwaikh plant as the first seawater desalination plant in the world at that time.
To be a tangible sign of Kuwait's vision, which contributes to the growth and development of the country's population and service projects, it is expected that the demand for water until 2035 will increase to 800 million imperial gallons per day. The ministry has developed its future plan to meet the country's needs, and the ministry's water production will reach nearly one billion gallons per day by 2035. The challenges facing the country in the water security sector are still present, especially the high consumption rates. However, the ministry has taken serious and effective steps towards improving water management and conservation, and its endeavor to acquire modern and advanced technologies with high efficiency and high performance in the manufacture, treatment, transportation, and storage of water is ongoing.
In conclusion, may God help everyone to serve the public interest under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him.
May God's peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.
