Eng. Khalifa Mohammed Al-Fraij, Assistant Undersecretary for Power and Water Distillation Stations at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, announced that the preparation of the annual comprehensive maintenance program for electric units, boilers and distillation units has been completed, where maintenance will be conducted to them while maintaining the needs of electricity and water. Al-Fraij stated that an annual maintenance work will be done for (90) electrical generating units, representing 83% of the total units. He added that for water, the necessary maintenance of the distillation units will be conducted for (57) distillation units, representing 97% of the total number of distillation units, in addition to the maintenance of desalination units with reverse osmosis technology at Shuwaikh and Al-Zour station, as well as the maintenance work of auxiliary equipment at the stations. Al-Fraij explained that the comprehensive annual maintenance program in all power and water distillation stations, which are (7) main stations distributed in the regions of Kuwait, will start from September 2019 and end in the last week of May 2020. The engineers and technicians of the stations will participate and supervise all the maintenance work in accordance with the approved maintenance programs in coordination with the contractors in this field in preparation for the phase of next Summer 2020, in order to meet the needs of the electricity network and water network in proportion to the needs of the rising consumption of electricity and water. This maintenance is carried out in accordance with the international manufacturing standards to achieve the required quality and efficiency. The preparation of the Maintenance Program includes full coordination with all sectors of the Ministry as per the general directives of his Excellency the Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water, Dr. Khaled Ali Al-Fadhel, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Eng. Muhammad Hajji Boushehri, for the readiness of the electrical power stations and water distillation sector for the coming Summer.
