Under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, His Excellency Mrs. Yuko Kamikawa and His Excellency the Minister Economy, Trade and Industry Mr. Ken Satio, Secretary General of the League of Arab States His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, His Excellency the Minister of Electricity and Water, and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aziz Bushahri participated at the fifth session of the Arab-Japanese Economic Forum, which It means enhancing aspects of cooperation between Arab countries and Japan in several fields, including: Energy security for both supply and demand sides, digital transformation and infrastructure development, Innovation andartificial intelligence, in addition to clean energy technologies.
In his speech at the forum, His Excellency reviewed a number of main topics for strategies related to energy security and sustainability, which are as follows:
First, direct investment in renewable and clean energies and seeking to increase their proportions to reach 30% of the total electrical energy produced during the next decade, taking into account the extent of Arab countries’ progress in renewable energy programs.
Second: Developing the infrastructure and technology used in the areas of security and management, smart electrical grids and energy storage.
Third: Localizing the technology used in the renewable energy industry in a way that ensures creating job opportunities with high added value.
Fourth: Using digital transformation and artificial intelligence programs, including meters smart energy efficiency management in buildings and productive economic institutions.
Fifth: Restructuring the electric energy price system with the aim of rationalizing consumption, ensuring the development of sound insights into future needs electric power generation plants, whether traditional or renewable, according to optimal request which will inevitably lead to the creation of a stable long-term balance between supply and demand.
He also added that adopting a policy of using renewable and clean energies in the process of electricity production and rationalization of consumption will ultimately lead to protection of the environmental system from pollution and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which would contribute positively to reducing climate change, in line with United Nations conventions on this matter.
His Excellency stressed that it has become necessary to work to strengthen and strengthen cooperation between countries Arab and Japanese countries and removing all barriers to investments directed towards security and sustainability energy.
In addition to working to motivate private sector institutions to cooperate Joint management and operation of advanced and smart energy systems and development of initiatives training in cooperation with scientific and research institutions in Japan, which is certainly a win-win policy that simultaneously leads to sustainable economic growth for all countries Arabic.
