His Excellency the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Aziz Mahmoud Boushehri, inaugurated the 24th Dialogue Forum of the Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the State of Kuwait, in the presence of the Chairman and members of the Board of Trustees and representatives of Arab countries.

In his speech, Dr. Mahmoud Boushehri pointed out that this forum is of great importance due to the technological development in the renewable energy industry and energy efficiency improvement technologies worldwide, stressing at the same time the commitment of all participating countries to support the transition programs towards cleaner systems in the electricity generation process and also adopting modern technologies to improve energy efficiency in buildings and economic and production institutions in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development goals and fulfilling countries’ obligations regarding reducing greenhouse gas emissions to reach carbon neutrality in order to preserve the ecosystem.

Dr. Boushehri also pointed out the need for joint work to develop policies and mechanisms that enhance investment in renewable energy and seek to raise its percentage to more than 30% of the total energy produced during the next decade, in addition to localizing modern technology related to the renewable energy industry and qualifying and training national competencies working in such fields.

Dr. Boushehri stressed the importance of community awareness regarding the implementation of energy efficiency systems with the aim of rationalizing electricity consumption, which would lead to creating a long-term balance between production and demand for electrical energy.
