An official delegation from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, headed by Acting Undersecretary Eng. Maha Hussain Al-Asousi, Director of the Chemical Works Department and Director of the Water Facilities Operation and Maintenance Department (by designation), participated in the Tenth World Water Forum (WWF), which is being held in the city of Bali in the Republic of Indonesia in the period from May 18 to 25, 2024 under the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity.”
Under the generous sponsorship of the Republic of Indonesia and the World Water Council (WWC), the forum aims, through sustainable water management, to implement many programs that aim to manage water resources wisely, such as developing power plants and using water to operate small hydroelectric power. The focus will also be on discussing water flexibility and rationalizing its use. Participants will discuss topics centered around climate, water, food, energy, and health, while linking them to politics. It is hoped that the results of the forum will influence the policies of participating countries. The results of scientific discussions will be detailed and integrated with policy so that scientific visions can be applied. In this way, countries will be able to translate the forum’s outcomes into policies more easily. Coordination will be made between Indonesia and the participating countries to establish a center of excellence from countries in the Asia-Pacific region and other regions, and it is expected that at least 30 to 50 thousand participants from dozens of countries will participate in this event.
The State of Kuwait has sought to participate actively in this forum because of its international impact and great importance in discussing the most important issues related to water.
