Based on the principle of cooperation between state entities and to complement the Ministry's role in raising awareness about rationalizing electricity and water consumption among citizens and residents with the aim of sustainability, His Excellency the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Sabih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizim, issued a ministerial decision to form a committee to rationalize electricity and water consumption in the State of Kuwait, under the chairmanship of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Adel. The committee also includes representatives from the Public Authority for Applied Education (PAAE) and the Federation of Industries (FEI). The work of the committee is specialized in the following:
- Preparing an integrated system of awareness programs to show the importance of rationalizing consumption and promoting it in the media and public procrastination programs.
- Communicating with all civil society organizations and productive economic sectors in Kuwait to raise awareness about the need to rationalize the consumption of electricity and water, especially during the summer period of June to September, particularly during peak hours, which is usually from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as well as conducting periodic field visits to customers, the largest consumers of electricity and water in all their categories, and finding common work mechanisms to rationalize consumption and reduce waste.
- Raising community awareness of the need to adopt energy efficiency systems and water conservation technology in private residential, investment, and commercial buildings, factories, agricultural holdings, and public institutions. Al-Mukhaizim shows the importance of rationalizing electricity and water consumption and the representative methods that must be followed to achieve this.
- Cooperation with the private sector and scientific and research institutions in the country, such as Kuwait University, Kuwait Foundation for Scientific Progress, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, to implement joint projects exploring and improving cooling (air conditioning) and modern technologies used to rationalize water consumption.
We must focus on these efforts during the next phase, emphasizing the necessity of concerted efforts to achieve the desired goals, which, if achieved, will have positive repercussions on the sustainability of electricity and water services in the State of Kuwait.
